More than 5,000 solar panels have been installed at Coca-Cola Amatil’s Eastern Creek facility and the 1.7Megawatt (MW) solar PV system is officially up and running.
The system was switched on in March 2020, and has a generating capacity of 2,500MWh of electricity per annum, helping to reduce Amatil’s onsite energy use by 12% and an emissions reduction of more than 2,100tonnes per annum.
Time lapse footage of the installation at Coca-Cola Amatil’s Eastern Creek facility was taken between October 2019 and March 2020.
Between the months of April to July 2020, the system at Eastern Creek has generated energy equivalent to the power of 360,000 clothes dryer cycles everyday, 1,072 fridges, and 91 average homes powered.
In just four months since being switched on in March 2020, the carbon emissions saved by the system are the equivalent of 184,000 litres of fuel burnt, and the removal of almost 250 passenger vehicles off Australian roads.
Verdia has delivered 3.5MW solar PV program across Coca-Cola Amatil’s three largest bottling sites in Australia. The installation across three industrial-sized properties in Western Australia, Queensland and NSW, is one of the largest commercial rooftop programs in Australia.
Verdia was recently awarded Australian Partner for Growth Award in the Corporate & Social Responsibility category at the 2020 Coca-Cola Amatil Partner for Growth Awards. The Award recognises partners who have helped Amatil make positive change to the community and contributed to the organisation’s sustainability.
